Preschools and leisure centers may only be closed for planning or training four times a year, according to a JO decision.
“According to the Education Act, pre-school and after-school facilities must be offered to the extent necessary, taking into account, among other things, the gainful employment of the parents,” states the Chief Judicial Ombudsman Erik Nymansson, in a press release.
The decision comes after complaints against Kungsör municipality, which intended to remain closed for six days in the 2025/2026 school year, which the JO considers to be too long.
In the press release, JO states that the need for planning and training is understandable, but that the business must not remain closed to an excessive extent.
