Araqchi stressed the need to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, expressing his hope that the agreement between his country and America would contribute to putting an end to military operations on all fronts to establish stability in the region.
A statement by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard also confirmed that Araqchi briefed Aoun and Berri on the terms of the memorandum of understanding with Washington, especially those related to Lebanon.
In another development, the Iranian Foreign Minister stressed, during separate phone calls with his counterparts from Türkiye, Egypt and Iraq, today, Monday, the necessity of completely stopping the Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Lebanese welcome
For his part, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun welcomed, today, Monday, the understanding between the United States and Iran to stop the war in the Middle East, including Lebanon, during the call he had with Iranian Foreign Minister Araqchi.
Aoun expressed his hope that the agreement would constitute a “positive step” towards reducing tensions and opening the door to diplomatic solutions that contribute to enhancing regional and international security and stability, according to a statement by the Lebanese presidency.
During the call, the importance of continuing political and diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing sustainable stability in the region was emphasized, and Aoun indicated in this regard that “Lebanon’s stability, security, and sovereignty remain a national priority.”

The Israeli Prime Minister stressed that whether an agreement is reached with Iran or not, it will not possess nuclear weapons, stressing the continuation of military operations “to ensure Israel’s security on various fronts,” as he put it.
The first round of negotiations between Iran and the United States is expected to begin after the official signing of the memorandum of understanding to stop the war, in the Swiss city of Geneva, next Friday, according to what American and Iranian officials confirmed.
