The UK is to ban under-16s from using several different social media apps.
This is what the country’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer says during a press conference.
Tiktok, Snapchat and Instagram are some of the apps that may be affected, the BBC writes.
– Social media makes children unhappy, says Starmer according to the TV channel.
His hope is that the law will be clubbed before Christmas and come into force at the beginning of next year.
At the same time, Starmer says that a ban is not something he “takes lightly” because social media has also had positive effects on young people.
Starmer adds that the government still needs to “harness the power of technology to build a stronger and fairer Britain”.
