US President Donald Trump also confirmed the completion of the agreement, announcing the lifting of the US blockade on Iranian ports, while Tehran, in turn, confirmed that the text of the agreement had become final.
According to what the Pakistani Prime Minister announced in a post on the “X” platform late on Sunday night – Monday, the two sides announce the immediate and permanent cessation of operations on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Sherif added that the official signing ceremony will be held in Switzerland on Friday, June 19.
He explained, “With the agreement entering into force, the mediators will work to facilitate a series of meetings this week.”
“To the ships of the world… start your engines.”
For his part, US President Trump said – in a post on his “Truth Social” platform – that “the agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete. I congratulate everyone.”
He added that he hereby authorizes the opening of the Strait of Hormuz for the passage of ships without fees, and the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade in conjunction with the opening of the Strait.
He continued, saying: “To the ships of the world, start your engines and let the oil flow.”
Oil prices quickly fell in global markets following this announcement, as Brent crude futures fell by 4% to reach about $84 per barrel.
In another post, Trump said, “The great agreement with Iran will bring peace and security to the entire region,” and added, “Many presidents tried to make peace with Iran, but they all failed before I came.”
J.D. Vance, US Vice President, told Fox News that if the Iranians adhere to this agreement, it will bring about a radical transformation in the Middle East over the next 50 years.
Vance was asked if he would attend the signing ceremony in Switzerland, and he said, “I certainly plan to attend, but it is possible that the president himself will attend.”
