About 3,000 far-right people demonstrated in Rome on Saturday, demanding the return of migrants to their countries of origin, coinciding with the launch of a new far-right party by a retired general.
Participant in the demonstration, Susanna Ruby, told Agence France-Presse, “Migrants can stay if they are willing to accept the rules of coexistence that we adopt,” warning, “Otherwise, they must return to their countries of origin.”

“This applies in particular to those who commit crimes and are caught red-handed once, twice, three or four times,” she added.
“We want to expel illegal immigrants (…) and force them to leave, because they should not be here,” said Luca Marcella, spokesman for the neo-fascist CasaPound movement. He added: “We also want to return legal immigrants to their countries (…) those who clearly have not integrated or interacted with society.”
A few meters away, a member of the European Parliament and former general, Roberto Fanacci, held a meeting to launch his new far-right party, Futuro Nazionale (National Future).
“For me, no one should be allowed to enter Italy,” he said at a press conference.
Fanacci is a former member of the anti-immigration League party led by Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini.
Almost a year before the 2027 legislative elections, Fanacci is putting his new party in competition with the right-wing Italian government, complicating Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s task of securing her re-election.
Fanacci focuses on Italy’s Christian Roman roots, while attacking immigrants and feminist movements.
Recent opinion polls indicate that the new party has the support of 4.5% of voters, most of whom are supporters of the League party led by Salvini.
At the end of last week, the party announced that it had doubled the number of its members in Parliament to 8, after 4 members changed their alliances.
