Circulating video clips that were published showed two police officers wearing “Maple the Moose” and “Bald Eagle Clutch” uniforms breaking into a metal gate using a special hammer, before they were able to arrest the suspect inside the house.

Colonel in the Peruvian National Police, Carlos Freddy Alcantara Obregon, explained that the operation was based on intelligence information that confirmed that the wanted person was a keen football follower and was living the World Cup atmosphere with great enthusiasm, which prompted the police to take advantage of this to get closer to him without raising suspicions.
He added that the plan succeeded despite the huge heads of the amulets falling off some of the elements during the raid, stressing that the goal was achieved by arresting the suspect and seizing weapons and materials suspected of being drugs inside the site.
This is not the first time that the “Green Squad” unit of the Lima Police has resorted to innovative disguises; Its members have previously carried out similar operations wearing capybara costumes on Valentine’s Day and superhero characters during Halloween celebrations, as part of its efforts to combat small-scale drug trafficking and local crime.
