The “notorious leader” of the Venezuelan drug cartel Tren de Aragua has been killed in a US strike, President Donald Trump says.
“This action was coordinated in close connection with our friends in Venezuela, with whom we work very well together,” he writes on Truth Social on the night of Friday.
The criminal network came into focus last year in connection with the escalated conflict between the US and Venezuela and was alleged to have links to the former, later also captured by the US, president Nicolás Maduro.
