Gunmen have killed 17 farmers in northwestern Nigeria on Friday, local authorities told AFP. Another five people were injured, three of them seriously, in the attack.
The northern parts of Nigeria are plagued by jihadist groups and other criminal gangs that raid villages and carry out mass kidnappings.
Since the extremist group Boko Haram began its insurgency in the country in 2009, tens of thousands of people have been killed and millions forced to flee.
