The administration of US President Donald Trump has reignited the old controversy over unidentified flying objects after publishing a new batch of declassified documents, which included official accounts and testimonies of mysterious sightings extending from the 1940s to recent years.

According to a report published by Newsweek magazine by journalist Mandy Taheri and Matthew Robinson, the US Department of War (the Pentagon) released 53 documents and 10 digital models.

Red body

Among the most interesting facts is an incident recorded in February 2026 in the northeastern United States, where a witness reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that he saw a red spherical object hovering over the yard of his house.

The witness described the object as a ball about one meter in diameter with a bright red color that he had never seen before, while at its center looked like a glowing white ball the size of a basketball. Moments later, the object rose to the top before a similar ball appeared above it. Then the two objects moved together and disappeared from sight.

Yellow ball and white objects

In another testimony included in the documents, a person spoke of seeing a yellow ball of light the size of a basketball during the evening. After getting out of his car, he noticed the appearance of a second, larger ball.

A few weeks later, he said that he saw several white spherical objects at higher altitudes in the sky, while the authorities attached a video recording of the incident in the published files.

The documents also revealed another incident that occurred in the western United States in October 2023, where a federal law enforcement agent reported that he saw a glowing object in the form of a circle of light resembling swirling lava.

The witness said that 3 red lights came out of the object very quickly and disappeared, while a strong flash illuminated the horizon at the same time. After about 20 minutes, the scene was repeated again, but this time the lights moved in different directions before disappearing.

The files included a secret report dating back to July 2008 about the detection of an unidentified object above Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe. The report stated that the object was flying at a high altitude and was detected by both radar and visual surveillance

Foreign body

In Colorado in 2022, a former US Army intelligence officer and 4 of his colleagues documented seeing a strange object over the Cheyenne Mountains. According to the report, the object remotely resembled a potato, was pearly white and semi-transparent, and consisted of irregularly shaped plates or scales.

After about two minutes, the object suddenly disappeared, to the point that witnesses described it as if it “disappeared” in a single moment, without leaving a trace or shadow.

The files were not limited to recent incidents, as they included a secret report dating back to July 2008 about the detection of an unknown object above Harare International Airport in Zimbabwe. The report stated that the object was flying at a high altitude and was detected by both radar and visual surveillance.

The report indicated that rays were seen emanating from it, while observers described it as a disc-shaped object with a hollow center surrounded by rotating lights at the bottom. The incident raised concerns at the time that prompted the authorities to raise the state of alert at the airport.

Rays of light crisscross over the Cascade Mountains

The oldest published documents date back to 1949, when Reverend Charles Barnes wrote a letter to FBI Director John Edgar Hoover describing a scene he saw in the sky.

Barnes said that he saw 4 rays of light crossing over the Cascade Mountains, and small clouds forming inside them, before what appeared to him like a huge explosion that rose thousands of feet high. The priest explained that he conveyed the information out of concern for national security, while Hoover thanked him and referred the details to competent government agencies.

Newsweek notes that the publication of these documents does not provide conclusive evidence of the nature of these phenomena, but it reveals the extent of American official interest in observations that for decades have been the subject of controversy and speculation, and gives the public an opportunity to view reports that were until recently hidden from view.
