Twelve people have been arrested in Belgium in connection with an investigation into a criminal gang that forced minors into prostitution.
The league is said to be led by teenagers.
The investigation began in March after a 16-year-old girl disappeared. She was later found and the police suspect that she fell victim to sex trafficking, according to the prosecutor’s office in Brussels.
According to the suspicions, the league was run by three minors with the help of three adults – two men and a woman. They are accused of having “professionally” arranged the sexual exploitation of the victims.
Three minor victims have been identified in the investigation, and there are indications that there may be more.
