The features of the scene in the Gaza Strip, 8 months after the announcement of the ceasefire agreement, are embodied in a complex field reality: continuous Israeli military and humanitarian violations that completely contradict the concept of peace that is absent from the exhausted land.

Throughout these months, the Palestinians have reaped nothing but worsening suffering and a succession of violations that dashed hopes for stability, transforming the Gaza Strip into an arena of continuous war of attrition amid the blockage of the political horizon and the exacerbation of the health and humanitarian crisis.

The government media office in Gaza confirmed that Israeli violations have exceeded 3,000 violations of the terms of the agreement since it entered into force in October 2025.

In terms of numbers, the official of the government media office, Ismail Al-Thawabta, said that more than 985 martyrs died as a result of the continuous bombing of residential squares and neighborhoods, in addition to the injury of more than 3,000 citizens, and the kidnapping of 82 others from their homes, coinciding with the implementation of the siege and the closure of the crossings.

Humanitarian catastrophe

On a humanitarian level, the horrors of war and the bitterness of asylum have not stopped for the displaced people in tents, as residents face daily killing, home demolition, and starvation.

Rami Abu Taima says, in a report prepared for Al Jazeera, that the blood of the victims, men, women and children, continues to mark the details of life inside the demolished homes and tents, at a time when the displaced are expressing the bitterness of the truce, which has made conditions worse due to the absence of water and food, stressing that the lack of fuel represents the worst aspect of this worsening humanitarian crisis.

“They deluded us into a ceasefire. For 8 months, the situation has worsened. There are martyrs every day, wounded every day, the crossings are closed, there is no water or food, and the lack of fuel is the worst thing about it.”

On the political track, the past eight months have reflected the depth of the complexities surrounding the sector file, as political initiatives dissipate one after another and endless rounds of negotiations falter.

Within this framework, writer and political analyst Wissam Afifa believes that Gaza is not experiencing a real ceasefire, but rather is facing a low-tempo war aimed at attrition.

Afifa warned that the continuation of the current data without change puts the sector facing the most dangerous scenarios, the most prominent of which is the risk of displacement.

The Israeli war of genocide on the Gaza Strip left about 73,000 martyrs and more than 173,000 Palestinians wounded, most of them children and women, and the destruction of 90% of the infrastructure.
