Real Madrid, the competitor in the Spanish Football League, announced yesterday, Tuesday, that Atletico Madrid had rejected an offer worth 150 million euros (about 162 million dollars) to buy striker Julián Alvarez.
Real Madrid explained that Atletico rejected the offer based on the presence of a release clause in the Argentine player’s contract worth 500 million euros (about 540 million dollars).

The club said in a statement on its website, “Real Madrid announces that, following today’s board of directors meeting, it has submitted an offer worth 150 million euros (about 162 million dollars) to Atletico Madrid to obtain the services of the player Julián Alvarez.”
He added, “After studying and evaluating the offer, Atletico Madrid thanked the club for the offer, which was made within the framework of the good relations existing between the two clubs, and rejected it, referring to the penalty clause in the player’s contract.”

Alvarez scored 20 goals in 49 matches with Atletico last season.
