Now American forces have attacked Iran.
“The operation is a proportionate response,” writes the military on X.
During the night of Tuesday, an American Apache helicopter was shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.
Donald Trump claims Iran was behind the shooting.
“Two pilots were involved, and both are safe and unharmed,” writes the president on Truth Social.
Iran: Robots against US targets
Following Trump’s statement, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on foreign forces to leave Iranian territory.
According to Araghchi, the forces are at risk of being caught in the crossfire.
“We prefer diplomatic language, but we also speak other languages”.
Late on Tuesday evening, American forces have now responded to the attack.
According to US Central Command, Centcom, the US regards the attacks as self-defense.
“The operation is a proportionate response to the unprovoked Iranian aggression,” writes Centcom on X.
According to CNN, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps states that Iran fired robots and drones at American targets.
Israeli airstrikes against Iran
During yesterday, Israel stated that the country struck military targets in western and central Iran.
According to Iranian state television, explosions were heard in the cities of Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan and near Karaj. A day earlier, Iran had attacked Israel.
The attacks took place after a ceasefire between the countries was declared in April.
On Sunday night, Donald Trump called on both Israel and Iran to immediately lay down their weapons.
