US President Donald Trump said that the United States will strike Iran “strongly” again, today, Wednesday, after attacks launched last night under the pretext of responding to the shooting down of an American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz.
In statements to reporters at the White House, the US President said, “We are close to reaching an agreement, but Iran continues to procrastinate,” indicating that he does not want an agreement like the one concluded by former President Barack Obama, in reference to the nuclear agreement concluded in 2015.
He continued, saying: “Iran is procrastinating, and I say let us give them a few extra days while they continue to procrastinate,” stressing that “all Iran must do is start signing the agreement document, as it has been fully negotiated.”
He added, “Iran will want to conclude an agreement, but we will see if that happens.”
Following these statements, Trump spoke to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority and said: “Without me, Israel would not exist,” and stressed that Washington is making “excellent progress” with Iran.
For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz said, “The battle against Iran is far from over, and the army is ready to attack Iran with great force.”
Iran had denied any deliberate targeting of the American Apache helicopter over the Strait of Hormuz, but on Tuesday evening the United States launched attacks on Iranian sites in response to the incident in the context of what it called “self-defense.” Then Iranian forces carried out strikes on sites in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan.
Threatening to bomb power stations and bridges
Earlier today, Trump said – in statements to Fox News – that he is close to issuing orders to launch new strikes against Iran, stressing that Tehran has wasted a long time in negotiations that could have led to an agreement that would have brought it great gains.
Trump added that he was about to give orders to carry out attacks targeting power plants and bridges inside Iran.
The American President stressed that Tehran will pay the price after prolonging the negotiations, as he put it.

Trump said that Iran speaks without actions, considering that “the era of the Middle East bully is completely over.” He pointed out that the naval blockade on Iran is the most successful in the history of naval warfare.
Trump also described the situation of the Iranian army as being in complete chaos and complete confusion, adding that many of its components – including the naval and air forces – no longer exist, according to him.
On the other hand, Reuters quoted an informed official as saying that Qatari negotiators arrived in Tehran today in an attempt to reach a final agreement following consultations they held with Washington.
“Evidence of incapacity”
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iranians will remain steadfast in the face of any pressure or threat, relying on their national unity.
Pezeshkian stressed that “vital infrastructure is the lifeblood of people, and the threat to target it is not a show of force, but rather evidence of impotence in the face of the will of our people.”
In turn, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said that the US army – in its attacks on Tuesday evening – deliberately targeted vital civilian water infrastructure in Sirik, southern Iran.
The spokesman added, “America’s targeting of water tanks in Serik is a war crime and not collateral damage.”
In this context, Axios quoted American officials as saying that they hope Tuesday’s strikes will help “push the Iranians to take action and respond to Trump’s proposal.”
