Russian writer Ainur Kurmanov said that the governments of the Caucasus and Central Asian countries have not yet been able to close the dual-use research programs conducted by the US Department of War (Pentagon) in the former Soviet republics.
He explained in an article published by the Politnavigator website that the matter is related to the long-term secret activities of military biologists affiliated with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

The writer pointed out that the reason for holding the “International Alliance to Prohibit the Development and Proliferation of Biological Weapons Conference” a few days ago was due to the information previously revealed by the resigned US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, that all biological weapons development projects were simply transferred from Ukraine after the outbreak of the war with Russia and are still being implemented.

Armenia and Kazakhstan
According to Kurmanov, this is mainly about Armenia and Kazakhstan, where there is still a possibility of deliberate leakage from facilities built and operated with Pentagon funds.
The writer strengthened his hypothesis with what an employee in the Laboratory Medical Services Department in Kazakhstan said during the conference, that military biologists from the German Army (Bundeswehr) in 2015 studied the genotype of encephalitis ticks and the pathogens they carry for their own purposes in a third-level biosecurity laboratory in the city of Almaty – Kazakhstan.
Georgia
He adds that a similar picture of American hegemony has emerged in Georgia, citing the statement of the doctor and activist in the “Anti Lab – Georgia” association, Tinatin Gotsadze, in which she revealed that conducting dual-use research, within the Pentagon’s programs, was not limited to the “Lugar Center” only, but also included private commercial companies.
Gotsadze is quoted as saying that these companies not only collected samples, but also conducted secret experiments.
It has also drawn attention to the persecution and threats of public figures and journalists who attempted to highlight the work of NATO military biologists in the Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
Furthermore, a Biosecurity Level 4 (BSL-4) laboratory is being completed in southern Kazakhstan, on the border with Kyrgyzstan, with funding from the Pentagon.
Kurmanov:
This is mainly about Armenia and Kazakhstan, where there remains the possibility of intentional leakage from facilities built and operated with Pentagon money.
The writer claimed that this laboratory includes an underground repository for pathogens from different parts of the world.
He concludes that the seriousness of these centers and research was clearly highlighted in the statement issued by the conference participants, in which they called on the leadership of Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia to immediately end all research programs funded by the Pentagon, allow experts to access these facilities, and disclose all information related to the work completed.
