As the start of the World Cup in 2026 approaches, security planning officials revealed that the ongoing preparations to secure the largest edition in the history of the tournament are unprecedented.
The 2026 edition will witness the participation of 48 teams for the first time in the history of the World Cup, with 104 matches being held over 39 days, which imposes huge organizational and security challenges on the host countries.

According to those responsible for security planning, more than 400 security agencies and competent authorities are participating in the insurance plan, in cooperation with federal authorities and private security companies, to secure stadiums, fan zones, hotels, and teams’ residences.
Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the 2026 World Cup task force at the White House, said that the scale of the operation exceeds anything that was dealt with previously, stressing that the various security agencies in the country are involved in preparations to ensure the safety of the tournament.
The competitions will begin on June 11 in Mexico City, and the tournament matches will be held in 16 cities distributed between the United States, Canada and Mexico, before the final is hosted on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.
