The first day of this year’s Primavera in Barcelona ended in thunderous chaos.
Headlining acts Massive Attack and Doja Cat were forced to cancel their gigs.
Thursday at Primavera turned from hot to thundery as heavy downpours rolled in Barcelonareports The Independent.
Early in the evening, the organizer announced on Instagram that the gigs with Alex G and Mac DeMarco was canceled due to “unfavorable weather conditions”. Later came the heavy news: the main acts Massive Attack, Doja Cat and Bad Gyal couldn’t go up on the big stages Estrella Damm and Revolut because weather and technology made it unsafe.
A visitor describes the situation in the area as “total chaos”, reports The Independent.
Some scenes were later reopened and tied as Geese managed to play.
The organizer states in a statement to the newspaper that it worked “purposefully” with the artists to get the concerts started again and that it shares the audience’s frustration, but emphasizes that no serious incidents occurred.
