The Moroccan Football Federation announced that the national team has risen to seventh place globally in the latest FIFA rankings, achieving this advanced position for the first time in its history.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation stated, in an official statement, that this position is the best ever in the history of the “Atlas Lions” in the FIFA world rankings.

The statement, issued after the announcement of the FIFA classification yesterday, Wednesday, added that this advancement is an unprecedented achievement that “reflects the great development that national football has witnessed in recent years.” The Federation indicated that the new classification clearly demonstrates the prestigious position that the Moroccan national team now occupies on the international scene thanks to its successive positive results.
Morocco is an absolute African and Arab leader
The Moroccan team won a total of 1756.94 points, continuing its absolute dominance and position on the throne of the African teams, comfortably superior to the teams of the African continent. Senegal ranked 14th globally, Nigeria ranked 25th, Algeria ranked 28th, followed by Egypt ranked 29th.
On the Arab level, the “Atlas Lions” continued their leadership and topped the list, ahead of Algeria and Egypt, in addition to Tunisia, which ranked (46th globally), and Qatar, which ranked (55th globally).

At the top of the global list, France topped the international rankings, followed by Spain, Argentina, England, Portugal, and Brazil, respectively.
Morocco faces Norway before the World Cup
The Moroccan national team is currently preparing for a final and important friendly match against the Norwegian national team on June 7, which will be held on the grounds of the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey, USA, as part of the last meters of preparations before the start of the 2026 World Cup finals on the 11 of the same month.
Morocco is scheduled to begin its official World Cup campaign with an expected fiery confrontation against Brazil on June 14, within the third group competitions of the 2026 World Cup, which includes, alongside them, Scotland and Haiti.
