ODENSE. Filippa Angeldahl, 28, will try to push Sweden directly to a football World Cup.
After that, she’s going to get married, but she doesn’t seem to have a clue about the planning.
– I have been told to be there that day. But yes, everything is planned, I think, says the Real Madrid midfielder.
Two important World Cup qualifiers await Sweden before it’s time for summer vacation.
For the Real Madrid midfielder and national team star Filippa Angeldahl28, is not only expecting a holiday then – but also a wedding with fiancee Megan Brakes, to whom she has been engaged for four years.
– There are a few things to look forward to this summer. A little time off and weddings and vacations, she says when Sportbladet asks about the summer plans at Thursday’s national team press conference in Odense.
Is all the planning done or is there a lot of stuff in your head?
– No, my head is empty. I leave that to others. I have been told to be there that day. But yes, I think everything is planned.
You have been able to leave it alone?
– Yes, that’s probably just as well. Then I get to pay, haha. I’m really looking forward to it but it hasn’t been thought about much because it’s been a season and now this (national team gathering). So I guess I haven’t put a lot of focus there yet.
Certain last name
Otherwise, Angeldahl is quite secretive about the details, although she mentions that it will take place in Sweden.
And that the bride-to-be should also have agreed on a surname solution.
– You’ll see. It will be a “surprise”, says the midfielder with a sly look.
But you have decided?
– Yes, it is decided.
Regardless of whether she will be called Filippa Angeldahl, Filippa Brakes or Filippa something completely different after the summer, she hopes to start the autumn with a WC ticket already secured.
“Incredibly important match – just to enjoy”
Friday’s match in Odense against Denmark is not just a chance for revenge after the defeat in April for the Swedish women’s national team.
It is also a must-match to have the opportunity to reach a direct place in the WC qualifying group and avoid an uncertain playoff.
– It is clear that it is an incredibly important match and it is about the WC. But matches like this, it’s just to enjoy. We have everything in our own hands. So it is only this match that is the focus and then we have to take it from there, says Angeldahl.
