Criticism of “Immigrants for Swedes” continues

Nick Alinia’s participation in “Immigrants for Swedes” continues to arouse reactions.
Several panel members question that the right-wing debater was invited to the program.
– Personally, I don’t think he belongs, says TV profiler Ken Gacamougani.
Additional panel members react strongly to the right-wing debater Nick Alinia allowed to be in the new season of SVT’s comedy program .
One of these is the television profile and the former “Robinson” contestant Ken Gacamugani.
– For me, “IFS” has always been a forum where people with different backgrounds, experiences and identities have been able to meet. Personally, I don’t think he belongs in a program that many have experienced as a safe space for people from different minority and background groups, he says.
Dropped off
Nick Alinia is an opinion leader and well-known profile in right-wing circles on social media, and according to Expo, has repeatedly shared propaganda from Aktivklubb Sverige, which is described by Säpo as a violent right-wing extremist group. The fact that he will participate in the program has, among other things, made the podcaster Julia Frändfors and the journalist Amie Bramme Sey chosen to skip recordings where Alinia participates.
– I would never be able to live with myself if I sat there and grinned with him, says Julia Frändfors to ETC.
Although Ken Gacamugani supports the profiles’ decision, he believes that for his own part it is important to distinguish between SVT’s decision and his own participation in the program.
– As a black queer person, I see it as a great honor to be seen and heard in prime time on one of Sweden’s biggest television programs. That opportunity means a lot to me and to the representation I want to contribute.
The police profile: “Never stood up”
The police and former “The Traitors” participant Nadeem Ghazale will also be a panelist in the upcoming season and agrees that Nick Alinia’s participation is problematic.
“Mainly in view of his attitude, driving, inciting and extreme right-wing view of all of us with some kind of immigrant background and in view of the program’s profile,” he writes on Instagram.
But Ghazale didn’t know Alinia was going to be on the show when he accepted, as they aren’t in the same episode. When he later saw it, he had questioned the production, he writes.
“I had never stood up and joked on the same panel with a person with a public agenda,” continues Ghazale.
Responsible publisher: Then I would have given up
On Wednesday, the program’s responsible publisher Helena Olsson stated that she did not know about Nick Alinia’s participation.
– If I had been asked in advance, I would have declined, she says SVT.
Aftonbladet has applied for Nick Alinia.
