Mirra Andreeva, 19, is ready for her first grand slam final.
The Russian knocked out Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, 23, in the semi-finals.
After the match, they did not shake hands.
Marta Kostyuk was without a chance in the semi-finals of the French Open, which was over in one hour and 16 minutes.
Mirra Andreeva won 2–0 after a display in the first set that ended 6–1 and in the second set it was 6–3.
The 19-year-old has previously reached the semifinals of a grand slam as the best.
Now her first final awaits.
– All the emotions. It’s amazing and I’ve never felt like this before, says Andreeva in her victory speech.
Refused to handle
There was a lot of focus ahead of the game on the nationalities of the players because of Russia’s war against Ukraine. During the tournament have Kostyuk talked about the Russian attacks.
After the match, however, it was no big surprise that the players did not go to the net and shake hands.
But the Russian Andreeva still paid tribute to her Ukrainian opponent in front of the crowd.
– I’m still very, very nervous. I was very nervous before this match. She has had a great season and is a great player and tough opponent, says Andreeva.
The final will be played on Saturday and for Andreeva the winner between the Russian Diana Shnaider and the Polish Maja Chwalinska awaits.
