“Disrespectful and frivolous”

After 32 years, it’s finally over for Vinyl FM.
Now the radio channel’s presenter Richard Herrey rages.
– Employees who have worked for 20 years and sent thousands of hours suddenly lose their jobs, he tells Expressen.
The radio channel Vinyl FM has entertained the Swedish people with hits from the 60s and 70s since 1994.
Now comes the news that they have to shut down, writes The Express.
The decision has been taken by the Swedish Media Agency, which are the ones that issue broadcasting licenses to radio stations. The permits are limited and the decision is justified by the fact that the media house Bauer media has already received permission to broadcast for NRJ, which has higher listenership numbers than Vinyl FM.
Richard Herrey: “Disrespectful”
The former artist, and now one of Vinyl FM’s radio profiles, Richard Herrey61, is now furious about the closure.
– Employees who have worked for 20 years and sent thousands of hours suddenly lose their jobs, he tells Expressen.
As early as July 31, the channel is shut down, which makes Herrey extra upset.
– Disrespectful and frivolous by both politics and the Media Authority. It’s about people. People who lose their jobs, he says.
Want to get a dignified ending for Vinyl FM
The director of content at Bauer Media, Mårten Söderströmis also disappointed.
– We will try to make a nice and dignified end to the broadcasts during the summer with many tributes and memories from the past years, he says.
