Four strict disciplinary and technical conditions were imposed on Brazilian star Neymar da Silva by Brazilian national team coach Carlo Ancelotti and sporting director Rodrigo Caetano, as a basic rule and an indispensable bridge to secure his return to the ranks of the Seleção.
The Brazilian website Globo Esporte reported that Neymar showed complete flexibility and readiness to adapt to the new rules and abandon previous privileges, stressing his commitment to doing his best to serve the group, a position that won the Italian coach’s admiration and praise.

- Stripped of the captaincy: Neymar’s captaincy of the Brazilian national team was permanently withdrawn from him and he will not wear it again during the World Cup competitions.
- Cancellation of the guaranteed starting place: Neymar will not automatically be guaranteed a place in the starting lineup. Rather, the coach is already considering alternative plans and tactical options without him, and the criterion for his participation will be absolute merit and commitment to what he presents in training sessions.
- Ending the era of absolute stardom: Ancelotti stressed his desire to end the idea of pinning the hopes of the Seleção entirely on one player, in an effort to consolidate the spirit of the group and collective reliance.

This new disciplinary map came during a crucial phone call held last week, which witnessed the first direct contact between Ancelotti and Neymar since last September.
During the conversation, Ancelotti clearly explained the general framework and strict restrictions that he has imposed on the team since he took over the technical leadership in the summer of 2025.
For his part, the former Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Saudi Al-Hilal player showed complete flexibility and retreat from previous privileges due to his intense focus on appearing in the World Cup. He did not object to any of these diktats, but rather promised to do his best to be useful to the group and adapt to the rules.
Thus, Neymar achieved his biggest goal by returning to the Seleção after a three-year absence, specifically since the severe knee injury he suffered on October 17, 2023 against Uruguay.
Neymar, accompanied by his 25 teammates, is scheduled to join the Grania Comari training center in Teresopolis on May 27, in preparation for playing his 129th international match in the upcoming friendly match against Panama at the famous Maracanã Stadium on May 31, before officially heading towards the World Cup finals.
