A spying scandal destroys Southampton’s hopes of promotion to the English Premier League | sports

The English First Division League announced today, Tuesday, the exclusion of the Southampton team from the English Premier League qualifiers due to spying accusations, while the Middlesbrough team qualified in its place and advanced to face Hull City in the final match, next Saturday, according to the British news agency (PA Media).

The agency reported that 4 points were deducted from the Southampton club’s balance for admitting to spying on Middlesbrough before the two teams’ semi-final match.

She added that Middlesbrough returned to the qualifying round again, by decision of an independent committee that looked into the case, today, Tuesday.

The Middlesbrough club informed the League that a member of the Southampton technical staff spied on a training session on May 7, and the League accused the Southampton Club of violating the regulations in an official statement the next day.

According to the new decision, Middlesbrough will play against Hull City in the final match, knowing that the winner of this match will advance to the English Premier League.
