The latest test version of Windows 11 revealed a new update that makes the performance of computers with economic specifications much better and faster than before, according to a report by the American technical site Windows Central.
The new update relies on a feature called “Low Response Time Profile,” which is adapted from Mac OS. The new feature relies on temporarily increasing the CPU frequency in short bursts to improve the computer’s overall performance during use with various applications that may need a higher frequency.
The feature increases the processor frequency for a period not exceeding 3 seconds in the case of using applications that require a higher processing frequency, meaning that the frequency increase will not be permanent for the processor.
The “Windows Central” report confirms that the new feature increases application performance by more than 40% with applications such as “Edge” and “Outlook” and more than 70% with applications that operate in the interface in general, such as the “Start” menu and the system’s text menus. The effect of the feature extends to third-party applications and external applications developed by companies other than “Microsoft.”
The impact of the feature also extends to some of the main Windows features, such as the “Windows Hello” feature, which allows authentication using the facial fingerprint, according to a report by the American technical website “Newin”.
Lots of criticism
On the other hand, Microsoft faced a group of harsh criticism across social media platforms because of the new feature and its working mechanism, as some computer enthusiasts believe that this feature hides the poor performance of the system and its applications, according to a separate report from the American technical website “PC Magazine.”
This attack prompted Scott Hanselman, Microsoft’s vice president for technology affairs, to defend the company’s actions through his account on the “X” platform, stressing that the rest of the operating systems do this as well, whether for computers or mobile phones.
How exactly does the new feature work?
The Newwin report indicates that the new feature comes as part of the update bearing the number “KB5089573” (KB5089573) and is supposed to be released in the coming weeks to all users around the world.
The user does not need to activate any feature or install any external application to benefit from it, as the feature works automatically once the update is installed.
A separate report from the Newwin website indicates that the update comes with another set of separate features, such as the feature of sharing computer-generated audio with more than one audio device at a time, in addition to new features in the task manager and the system lens.
Big changes
In a related context, a report by the American technical website “The Verge” revealed that the new feature is part of several changes that Microsoft is making to the Windows 11 system to make it more stable and fast for users.
These changes began with removing the “Copilot” features from the system completely and making it an optional feature that users can activate or add separately if they wish.
Microsoft internally calls these changes “Windows K2,” indicating that Windows 11 will change a lot after the company finishes all the updates it intends to provide to the system.
These changes focus mainly on improving system performance and addressing problems that users face in Windows 11, a plan that extends for several years through a group of varying updates.
