Liverpool had announced earlier this season that Salah would leave the team at the end of the season, despite his contract extending until 2027.

Liverpool lost to Aston Villa 2-4 yesterday, Friday, in the 37th round of the English Football League.

Salah said through his official account on the “X” social media platform: “I witnessed many stages in which the club moved from doubt to belief in its abilities and then to the championship stage. We made a hard effort for that, and I always gave everything I had to help the club reach its goals, and nothing makes me prouder than that.”

He added: “We suffered another loss this season that was painful. Our fans do not deserve that. I want to see Liverpool return to its natural position as an offensive team that opponents fear, and to return as a championship team. This is the style of football that I know, and this identity that must be restored and preserved forever, which is not negotiable, and everyone who joins the club must adapt to that.”

The player, who joined Liverpool in 2017 from Roma, explained: “Winning a few matches here and there is not what Liverpool stands for. All teams win matches.”

He continued: “Liverpool will always remain a club that means a lot to me and my family. I want to see it succeed, even long after I leave it. As I always say, reaching the Champions League next season is the least I can offer, and I will do everything in my power to achieve that.”
