Today, Wednesday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed with the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, in a meeting held at Maximus Palace in the capital, Athens, according to the Qatari Emiri Diwan.
The Amiri Diwan stated that the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the fields of defence, trade, investment, energy, information technology, culture and education, in addition to exchanging views on the most prominent regional and international developments.
According to the Amiri Diwan, the two sides discussed the situation in the Middle East, especially Lebanon, stressing the importance of reducing escalation and reaching a lasting solution that guarantees its stability.
He added that the two sides reviewed developments in the agreement between the United States of America and Iran, and stressed the necessity of ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and securing energy corridors and international supply chains.
While the Emir of Qatar praised the established historical relations between Qatar and Greece, he thanked Greece for its position in support of Qatar regarding the “Iranian attacks,” stressing Qatar’s keenness to follow up on all efforts to calm the situation to reach a solution through the paths of diplomatic dialogue, based on the Emiri Diwan.
Sheikh Tamim praised the successes of Qatari investments in Greece, expressing his aspiration to expand them, especially in the field of military cooperation and sectors of common interest.
For his part, Mitsotakis stressed his country’s support and solidarity with the State of Qatar in the wake of the “Iranian attacks,” appreciating its constant efforts for diplomatic dialogue and de-escalation, according to what the Amiri Diwan said.
