The Ismaily team returned to the path of victories after a long absence that lasted 178 days in its journey in the Egyptian Premier League championship, by defeating Petrojet with a score of (1-0), on Tuesday evening.

The two teams missed many attempts throughout the two halves of the match, which was held at Al-Salam Stadium in the capital, Cairo.

Al-Ismaili, champion of the Egyptian League three times, most recently in 2002, snatched the match points with a timely goal scored by substitute player Anwar Saqr in the 96th minute.

With this victory, Al-Ismaily raises its score to 17 points, keeping it in 14th place, at the bottom of the standings in the group to avoid relegation.

On the other hand, Petrojet’s balance froze at 34 points in fifth place.

It is noteworthy that the first round competitions of the Egyptian League were held with the participation of 21 teams, of which the first seven clubs qualified to compete for the title, and the positions qualified to participate in the African championships.

While the clubs that occupied positions from eighth to twenty-first headed into the relegation struggle, as four clubs will be relegated to the second division.

The points of all teams in the second round competitions in the championship and relegation groups were transferred.

There are only six rounds left until the end of the relegation group competitions, at a time when Al-Ismaili finds itself 6 points behind Kahraba Al-Ismailia, the first to be threatened with falling, and the 11th-placed team, and a full 11-point difference separates it from Al-Ittihad, which is in the 10th place.
