The Egyptian Football Association reached an agreement to hold a friendly match between the senior national team and its Russian counterpart on May 28, as part of the preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Federation said on its website on Tuesday, “Within the framework of coordination between the Egyptian Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, and the technical staff of the Egyptian national team, led by coach Hossam Hassan and national team manager Ibrahim Hassan, to provide a strong and distinguished preparation program for the Egyptian national team in preparation for participation in the 2026 World Cup, the United Sports Company has finalized the agreement to hold a friendly match for the Egyptian national team against Russia on May 28 next.”

Ibrahim Hassan, director of the national team, said that the Russia match will be held in the New Administrative Capital Stadium.

The Egyptian national team delegation is expected to head to the United States on May 30, and the team will play a final friendly match against Brazil on June 6 in the American state of Ohio.

Egypt will begin its matches in the tournament by facing Belgium on June 15 in Group Seven, before meeting New Zealand, and will conclude its matches in the group stage against Iran on the 27th of the same month.

The tournament begins on June 11 and continues until July 19.
