Arsenal temporarily regained the lead in the English Football League, with a difficult victory over its guest, Newcastle, with an unanswered goal, on Saturday, at the Emirates Stadium, for the thirty-fourth round of the competition.
The Gunners took advantage of the absence of their direct competitor, Manchester City, from this round, as they were busy with the FA Cup semi-final match, to advance to first place with 73 points, 3 points ahead of their rival, who has one less match.

On the other hand, the Magpies continued their series of negative results in the competition by suffering their fourth loss in a row and their sixteenth this season, leaving their score frozen at 42 points and falling to 14th place.
Arsenal opened the scoring just 9 minutes after the start of the first half, through Eberechi Eze, with a powerful shot from the left foot from the edge of the penalty area into the upper left corner, giving his team the lead in the match result.
Odegaard admits the difficulty of the confrontation
After the match, Martin Odegaard acknowledged the difficulty of the confrontation and the ferocity of Newcastle.
Odegaard said in statements to Sky Sports: “It was very difficult and a physical challenge, especially for me. Playing 90 minutes again was difficult, but we did everything we could to win the match.”
He added: “The most important thing for us is that we succeeded in winning and grabbing the three points.”
Regarding the sentence from which Arsenal’s goal came, Odegaard said: “We trained on the short balls, the first, the second, and everything in order to achieve that.”
He continued: “These are our capabilities. We can score in different ways. Today we did that in a wonderful way and we were dangerous in other opportunities as well, and we translated the work we did in training.”
He explained: “The audience was a little upset with our short passes at times, but that paid off in the end with a wonderful goal from Izzy.”
