In recent years, US President Donald Trump has been subjected to a number of assassination attempts, in addition to a series of other plans and security threats targeting him, in the context of escalating political and security tensions within the United States.

In this context, American media reported, on Saturday evening, local time in the United States, and at dawn on Sunday, Mecca time, that President Trump was evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, after a shooting incident occurred at the site of the party. According to reports, protection teams intervened quickly to secure the president and remove him from the danger site.

Following the incident, Trump said in a press conference, “Tonight’s incident is not the first of its kind, and assassination attempts are repeated,” noting that the Secret Service was able to quickly seize the shooter.

Trump stressed that the speed of the security forces’ response was “amazing,” as they opened fire as soon as they spotted the attacker, which prevented the incident from getting worse. He pointed out that preliminary investigations indicate that the perpetrator acted alone without the presence of his accomplices.

Trump acknowledged the existence of security gaps, noting that the ceremony building “did not have a sufficient level of security,” stressing that the competent authorities reviewed the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The US President called on all citizens to “renew their commitment to resolving political differences in peaceful ways, away from violence,” considering that the event should be an incentive for national unity, not a reason for further division.

Before this incident, Trump was subjected to two assassination attempts:

September 2024

On September 15, 2024, while President Trump was playing golf at his private course in Florida, a Secret Service agent claimed that a man was hiding in the trees with a rifle in his hand. Security forces chased him, but he fled, and he was later suspected of being the American activist Ryan Wesley Roth.

The authorities arrested Roth after pursuing him and then detained him to complete the investigation procedures. The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) described the incident as “apparently an assassination attempt.”

The documents showed that the suspect was carrying an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle with an obliterated serial number, equipped with an ammunition magazine, and a GoPro camera, in addition to files recording Trump’s movements in the months preceding the event.

July 2024

On July 13, 2024, a young man named Thomas Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump during an election rally in Pennsylvania, wounding the president in the ear, killing one of the rally participants, and seriously wounding two others, before Crooks was killed by security bullets.

American media said that Crocs was stationed on the roof of a factory about 120 meters away from the platform.

Local police explained that they found explosive materials in a car owned by Crooks, which was parked near the location of the election rally in Pennsylvania.

She added that the gun Crooks used in the assassination attempt had been bought by his father.

Most of the US presidents were subjected to assassination attempts. 4 of them were killed, others survived and sustained non-fatal injuries, and the CIA revealed their assassination plans and stopped them before they were carried out.
