In an attempt to avoid getting rid of the elite license, the club management contacted the highest management in Örebro municipality. The club must then have asked to pause or temporarily remove rental costs totaling just over SEK 300,000. The municipality said yes to the arrangement and on the same day that Kif Örebro held its annual meeting, the club was able to report equity that just reached the limit for approval.

The club’s assets were thus not enough to meet the requirement for positive equity. A requirement that must be met in order to continue playing at the elite level.

“Örebro Municipality takes no responsibility for the report that KIF Örebro has drawn up”writes Johanna Larsson, financial director of Örebro municipality, in a written comment.

External review initiated

Kif Örebro announces on its website that the association’s regular annual meeting has been postponed. The background is that the club has discovered a discrepancy in the accounting related to the 2023 annual accounts.

An external review has therefore been initiated.

“Our highest priority is to ensure correct, transparent and responsible management of the association’s finances”the club writes on its website.
