The Ukrainian capital, Kiev, was subjected to a renewed attack throughout the night, as explosions were heard, according to what local newspapers reported early on Sunday, while local authorities in Moscow announced the interception of marches that were heading towards the capital.
The Ukrainian army announced that the capital, Kyiv, was attacked by ballistic missiles. The head of the military administration in Kiev, Timur Tkachenko, said that at least one person was injured in the Darnytsia district of the city.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko said – in a post on the Telegram application – that “air defense forces are operating in the capital, so stay in shelters,” while Agence France-Presse reporters reported that they heard explosions and saw flashes in the sky.
The Ukrainian Air Force had previously warned on the Telegram application of a ballistic missile threat from the north.
In the same context, Oleksandr Ganza, the governor of the Dnepropetrovsk region in the southeast of the country, said that more than 40 drone strikes and artillery shelling resulted in the death of one person and the injury of another.
This town is a frequent target of Russian attacks, and is located on the opposite bank of the Dnipro River from the Moscow-controlled Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Deaths on the Russian-Ukrainian border
On the other hand, local officials said that drones and artillery shells killed civilians on both sides of the Russian-Ukrainian border on Saturday.
The acting governor of the Russian Bryansk region, Yegor Kovalchuk, said via the Telegram application that an attack by a Ukrainian drone in the Bryansk border region resulted in the killing of two people who were traveling in their car in a village near the border.
Denis Pushilin, who was appointed by Russia as governor of the administration of the regions it controls in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, said on Telegram that two people were killed in Ukrainian drone strikes in the large towns of Horlivka and Makeyivka.
Russian news agencies quoted the Ministry of Defense as saying that 124 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian regions during the past hours.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin issued a series of statements regarding the interception of Ukrainian drones heading towards the capital.
An unofficial count conducted by Russian news agencies indicates that the number of aircraft intercepted during the day reached 24 aircraft.

Russia’s war on Ukraine
Since February 24, 2022, Russia has been launching a military attack on its neighbor, Ukraine, and stipulates that to end it, Kiev “renounces” joining Western military entities, which the latter considers “unacceptable interference” in its internal affairs.
In recent months, Ukraine has intensified its strikes, which it describes as retaliation against Russia.
