Great joy in Congo-Kinshasa.

The team made it to the last 16 after drama.

Congo-Kinshasa needed to beat Uzbekistan to become one of the top eight group threes.

And so it was – after a highly dramatic ending.

Congo-Kinshasa got off to a nightmare start when Eldor Shomurodov gave Uzbekistan the lead after ten minutes.

But in the second half they were invited into the match. Yoane Wissa equalized at 1-1 on a penalty and with just over ten minutes left came the decisive goal.

Fiston Mayele poked in 2-1 and offered a wild celebration.

Yoane Wissa made it 3-1 in the 91st minute and sent Congo-Kinshasa into the round of 16 for the first time in the country’s history. They have never played in a World Cup final before.

In the round of 16, a meeting with the great nation England awaits. They play on Wednesday 1 July at 18:00.
