Here are further signs that pop star Taylor Swift and American football star Travis Kelce will marry at Madison Square Garden in New York next weekend.
The city’s authorities can now confirm that someone has applied to block off several streets around the arena, the BBC reports.
A spokesperson for New York’s mayor told the BBC that an application was submitted in early June to close the streets for a major event between July 2 and 4.
Earlier, The New York Times reported the same thing, citing anonymous sources. The newspaper has also noted that several teammates in Travis Kelces team the Kansas City Chiefs have booked into the nearby Marriott Marquis hotel, according to a source.
Swifts employees have been seen at a facility in Pennsylvania that is usually used for rehearsals and stage construction for major concerts, according to several media outlets.
More and more evidence
The New York Times also believes the betrothed have planned a smaller gathering for about 100 people on July 2, followed by something more grand the following evening.
At the same time, police officers patrolling the train station under the arena have reportedly been told that they can expect a Swift wedding during the weekend in question.
No public events are to be booked in the arena between 29 June and 6 July.
Since Swift and Kelce got engaged last August, fans and the media have been speculating about where and when the star couple will finally get married. They themselves have not said a word, but lately more and more evidence has begun to point to “the Garden”.
May have renounced
A couple of weeks ago, the entertainment site TMZ claimed that over 1,000 guests were invited to the wedding, and that all of them have been forced to sign non-disclosure agreements.
When the mayor of New York Zohran Mamdani earlier this month talking about how well prepared the city is for the summer’s big events he happened to mention “Taylor Swift’s wedding’ in the same sense as the soccer World Cup and the USA’s 250th anniversary celebration.
The legendary arena takes in around 20,000 visitors and is home to, among others, the NBA champions New York Knicks, the NHL team New York Rangers as well as concerts by Bruce Springsteen and Elton John. Taylor Swift has performed there several times.
The star couple will not be the first to arrange a wedding at the address. Already in 1974 married Sly Stone there, and in 1982, 2,075 couples were married at the same time during a mass wedding arranged by the Moon Sect.
