SMHI warns of high temperatures in large parts of Götaland this weekend.
– It is not impossible with upwards of 35 degrees in south-eastern Götaland on Saturday, says Johan Lundberg, meteorologist at SMHI.
In parts of Blekinge, Kalmar and Kronoberg counties, the temperature is expected to measure at least 33 degrees several days in a row. An orange warning from SMHI applies from Thursday afternoon to Monday evening. From Saturday, parts of Skåne are also included until Sunday evening.
There is also a yellow warning for large parts of Götaland from Friday afternoon to Sunday evening.
“Successfully warmer”
– In Kalmar and parts of Blekinge it can be around 30 degrees today. In the coming days, it is expected to gradually get warmer by one degree a day, says Johan Lundberg.
At the moment, the weather warnings extend to Monday and Sunday, but they may be extended.
– The heat releases from the western parts during the beginning of next week, but around Kalmar county and south-eastern Götaland it can still be 30 degrees. In any case, the worst heat leaves on Tuesday, but the week continues with just over 25 degrees in Kalmar County, says Johan Lundberg.
Anyone staying in these areas should pay attention to the body’s signals, drink water and take it easy, says Johan Lundberg.
– It can be good not to have too many activities that involve physical exertion.
Showers elsewhere
While the heat is on in the southern parts of the country, milder weather and showers are expected in parts of Svealand and southernmost Norrland for the weekend. In the northern parts of the country, temperatures are not expected to be as high as in the south, around 20 degrees, in some places down to 15 degrees, according to Johan Lundberg.
– During Friday, there is also a widespread area of rain that moves in central Sweden and central Norrland.
