VISBY. SD wild Katja Nyberg has filed a legal complaint against the prosecutor who charged her with drunk driving and minor drug offences.
But she has no answer as to how a snort tube ended up in her bag.
– I wonder that too, she says.
Member of Parliament Katja Nyberg has kept a low profile since Aftonbladet’s disclosure in January that she was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Since then, she has been prosecuted on suspicion of drunk driving and minor drug offenses – something she denies. The crime of illegal driving, at a later date, she admits.
Katja Nyberg’s explanation for the smell of alcohol: “Produced own kombucha”
During the week, she is on site in Visby to participate in Almedal Week. During Tuesday morning, she was questioned on the site 100 percent scene. There she only briefly commented on the suspicions against her with reference to the fact that she is awaiting trial this autumn.
She was also asked how it was possible to find a bag with 1.18 grams of cocaine and a snuff tube in her bag. Something she did not answer in questioning.
– Yes, I wonder that too. There are a lot of things I also wonder about this, but I can’t prevent it, it has to be taken in a trial.
The criticism: “Suspicion not disclosed”
She also announced that she and her lawyer filed a JO report against prosecutor Anders Jakobsson. When Aftonbladet interviews her after she leaves the stage, she explains why.
– These are parts of the handling, how this case has been handled. There it is, among other things how it has been handled. And that information has come out in the mass media before I have even been notified of it myself, she says.
– I was judged in public before I even found out exactly what I was suspected of.
The hair test, what do you think was wrong with it?
– That’s the whole handling there, but I will not go into more details of what will be brought up at the trial, there is no reason for that.
Is it not reasonable for the media to report on criminal suspicions against an elected official?
– Of course, there is an interest in me as a public figure, but if you look at the difference between me and the SD member who is suspected of child pornography crimes. Why didn’t his name come out as much? What is interesting about me?
What do you think about how The Sweden Democratsyour former party, handled the suspicions against you?
– No, but they haven’t handled it nicely in my opinion. They probably think they have. But they threw me out before I was even served with suspicion. They had made up their minds. But that’s only because you want to get rid of the problem.
Did you expect the Sweden Democrats to stand up for you and back you in a different way than they did?
– I think it is frightening in general how you handle people, if you handle people in that way, who are in a crisis and you just throw them out and want to sign a document and then just disappear from there. If they do that to me, they will do that to others.
– The difference is perhaps that others do as they say. But I didn’t.
How is your relationship with your former colleagues within SD today?
– There are certain colleagues I have contact with and good contact who are friends and you have to make a difference between person and thing. Then there are some who don’t even greet me, but that must stand for them.
Katja Nyberg has joined SD wild Elsa Widding’s newly started party Ambition Sweden, a party she believes is needed for the “balance” in the Riksdag. She thinks that SD has become a power party like other Riksdag parties, which care more about influence and positions than their voters.
– That’s probably why I went out with the dishwater, because you start sniffing at cabinet positions and start thinking along government lines. It’s more about own egos than why you’re actually there. And I see that characterizes Swedish politics.
Also the Sweden Democrats, then?
– Yes, they have come into the heat.
