Today, Sunday, the Qatari Ministry of Interior announced that an explosion occurred at a factory in Ras Laffan, northern Qatar, as a result of a technical malfunction.
The Ministry said, in a post on the X platform, that an internal explosion occurred in a factory in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area, indicating that civil defense teams are dealing with the incident.
The Ministry pointed out that the explosion resulted in a number of injuries, without any leakage posing a threat to the safety of individuals, while the competent authorities continue to deal with the incident.
The city of Ras Laffan is about 80 kilometers north of the capital, and it constitutes the main land base for processing gas extracted from the North Field.
