Launching flights between Damascus and Amsterdam next month economy

The Syrian General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced that it is continuing to complete the final steps with the competent authorities, in preparation for the launch of direct flights between Damascus and Amsterdam in the Netherlands during the first week of next July.

The head of the authority, Omar Al-Husri, said in a post on the “X” platform on Sunday: “After years of absence, the Syrian flag will fly again in the skies of Europe via direct Syrian Airlines flights between Damascus and Amsterdam.”

He added that this step reflects Syria’s gradual return to the European and international air transport network.

Omar Al-Husri described this achievement as “the result of continuous national work and great technical, legal and diplomatic efforts.”

He continued: “Amsterdam is only the beginning, and we are working on other destinations.”

The General Authority announced yesterday, Saturday, that Air Arabia will begin operating its regular, direct flights between Sharjah and Aleppo on July 4.

It was also announced the day before yesterday, Friday, that the Romanian airline Dan Air will also begin operating regular, direct flights between Bucharest and Aleppo on July 1.

Omar Al-Husri announced progress in discussions with the competent authorities in Germany regarding lifting the ban imposed on flights between the two countries.
