Speaking on the eve of the confrontation in Houston, Koeman explained that Barcelona’s Spanish star De Jong suffered an injury after colliding with his fellow midfielder Quentin Temper.

When asked about the location of the injury to De Jong, who played 67 international matches with his country’s national team, Koeman simply said that it was “the lower abdomen.”

Koeman, who was criticized by some Dutch media for his changes in the Japan match, added in an annoyed tone when pressed again: “Quentin stumbled, which caused Frenkie’s injury… I have already explained a lot about his injury.”
