A man broke into the home of Bayern Munich legend Mehmet Scholl, 55, reports Photo.
The man tried to lie down in the same bed as Scholl’s daughter.
The incident occurred at 05:00 on Monday morning.
According to information to Bild, it was a 48-year-old man who took off his shoes and crept into Scholl’s home in Munich via an open patio door.
Unlike many Swedes – who were up to watch Sweden’s World Cup match against Tunisia – the Scholl family was still asleep at five in the morning.
At the same time, the 48-year-old intruder is said to have taken a bite of food in the house, undressed and taken a shower.
The man then snuck into Scholl’s 20-year-old daughter’s room, where she was sleeping with boyfriend Sandro Porta, 24, who plays for 1860 Munich’s second team.
Got a wound
Bild describes the incident as “chaotic” when the 48-year-old tried to lie down in the same bed as the couple. Scholl’s daughter and her boyfriend tried to push the man away and in the chaos Mehmet Scholl also woke up and came to the rescue.
During the commotion, the intruder suffered a head injury and was then arrested by the police. He is said to be known to the authorities from before because of mental problems and has been admitted to a psychiatric clinic after the break-in.
Great successes
During his football career, Mehmet Scholl was an offensive midfielder and belonged to Bayern Munich from 1992–2007.
He won Bundesliga eight times and the Champions League and the UEFA Cup once.
