Starting in 2028, Nora Lindahl, 21, will represent Finland after competing in both the Olympics and World Championships for Sweden.
Now she is approaching both the Swedish and Finnish record for 100 meters.
It was during yesterday’s competition “Dromia International Sprint and Relays Meeting” in Vari, Greece, that the 21-year-old showed super form in the 100-meter race.
The time she ran was 11.18 seconds – a personal best for Lindahl, who thus beat her barely two-week-old time of 11.36.
Second best of all time
With that result, the Swedish-Finnish sprinter is now Finland’s second fastest woman of all time in the 100 meters, with only Helinä Marjamaa ahead of her.
Even from a Swedish point of view, she makes her way to the top as the second fastest Swede over the distance – two hundredths behind Linda Haglunds record from 1980.
Had Lindahl not chosen to change competition nation, time would also have given her a Swedish U23 record. The 21-year-old can no longer set Swedish records as a result the change of nation. However, the result is included in the Swedish statistics.
Lindahl finished second in the 100m behind Maboundou Koné of the Ivory Coast. Later on Saturday, the Swedish-Finnish also won the 200-meter race in 22.61, however, the time was not approved as the tailwind was too high.
