Iranian forces have stopped a tanker that allegedly tried to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without permission, reports loyal to the regime media in Iran, according to Al Jazeera.
A number of explosions are said to have been heard on the coast outside the town of Sirik around midnight Swedish time. According to Iran’s state television and radio company Irib, the explosions are connected to the operation when the ship was stopped.
During the night of Thursday, Iran claimed that the strait was closed to traffic in response to US attacks on the country. US President Donald Trump has later warned of a new wave of attacks also during the night of Friday, but dismissed it with the justification that discussions have been held with Iran and that a memorandum of understanding between the countries is underway.
