The new wave of controversy came after Trump underwent a medical examination at Walter Reed Military Center yesterday, Tuesday, which is the fourth known examination during his second term, where the US President merely said that everything “was perfect,” without revealing additional details about the results of the examination or his general health condition.

The American “Time” magazine reported that the issue of the health of American presidents has turned in recent years into an increasingly sensitive political and public issue, especially with the increasing ages of presidents who have reached the White House in the last decade.

She pointed out that the US Constitution does not require the president to publish his medical file, and that presidents enjoy the same protection as American citizens under medical privacy laws.
Sarah Rosenthal, a professor of medical ethics at the University of Kentucky, said that the current law gives the president alone the right to determine whether he will disclose his health information or not, adding that many Americans do not feel satisfied with this situation, because they believe that they have the right to know the health condition of their president.
Hide serious health problems
The magazine pointed out that a number of American presidents had previously hidden serious health problems, including President Woodrow Wilson, who suffered a stroke while in power, while his administration was keen to reduce the seriousness of his condition before public opinion.
She also pointed out that the controversy surrounding the health condition of former President Joe Biden during his presidency and his failed election campaign to run again, increased the sensitivity of Americans towards this issue, especially after the publication of a book that talked about the decline of his mental abilities and the attempts of those close to him to adapt to his health condition and hide some aspects of his condition.
According to a poll conducted by Axios and Ipsos, more than 70% of Americans believe that politicians do not speak honestly about their health conditions, while about three-quarters of participants support imposing a law requiring the president to publish his medical records.

Concerns are rising
Recent polls have shown that concerns about Trump’s health are on the rise. About 59% of Americans believed that the president does not have sufficient mental capacity to perform his duties efficiently, while 55% believed that his physical condition is not strong enough to continue in office.
Another poll also showed that nearly half of Americans believe that Trump is too old to assume the presidency, while many said they believe he is suffering from some form of age-related physical or mental decline.
Last year, the White House announced that Trump had chronic venous insufficiency after swelling appeared in his legs, but confirmed that the condition was not serious and did not threaten his life.
The pattern of his examinations changed
In the same context, the Daily Beast website quoted American cardiologist Jonathan Rayner, who previously treated former US Vice President Dick Cheney, as saying, “It appears that Trump has changed the usual pattern of presidential medical examinations,” after he himself described the last examination as a “semi-annual examination,” which may indicate that he is subjected to more frequent examinations due to his advanced age.
The doctor noted, according to the Daily Beast, that a large portion of presidential medical examinations are usually conducted before the official day of the examination, which means that more detailed results may be issued quickly by the White House.
However, the White House responded violently to these statements, as presidential spokesman Davis Engel said that Trump is “the most intelligent, active and accessible American president,” accusing some doctors who comment on his health condition of engaging in “political speculation.”
After leaving Walter Reed, Trump wrote that his medical examination “went perfectly,” announcing his return to the White House.
