The hosts responded with a hat-trick in the second half, scored by Thierno Barry (two goals) and Jack O’Brien in the 68th, 73rd and 81st minutes.
But Manchester City reduced the gap with a second goal scored by Erling Haaland in the 83rd minute.
In the 97th minute, Doku scored his second and his team’s third goal, saving Manchester City from its sixth loss this season, seconds before the final whistle blew.
With this result, Manchester City raises its score to 71 points in second place, widening the gap to five points with Arsenal, the leader of the standings, but Spanish coach Pep Guardiola’s team has a postponed match, unlike the last three rounds of the competition.
On the other hand, Everton missed out on a win that exceeds two consecutive losses, leaving its score of 48 points in tenth place, and continues its struggle to snatch one of the qualifying cards for the European Championships next season, as only three points separate it from seventh place, the last seat.
