Sweden has received a new record bird – 49 years old and in good health.

– I recognized it immediately. It was great fun, says ornithologist Claes Kyrk.

It was 1 July that the bird was observed on Söderskär in the Stockholm archipelago. The seabird, which is also known as the “Baltic penguin”, stays along the coast where they breed during the summer – something that also applies to the record bird.

– It was very energetic, there were no signs that it was old or weak, he says.

Once a year, Claes Kyrk and his colleagues go out to the nesting site to look at the birds. If it manages to survive a few more years, a European record looms.

– There are a couple of lyres, which are another seabird, that are 51 and 52 years old, but if the piglet does not get sick, I think it can beat the record, he says.

The best fashion of the summer:

Striped ribbed set

Blue patterned dress

Pink dress with flowers

Colorful dress

Blouse with balloon sleeves

Patterned chiffon maxi dress

Patterned set

Training tights in a summery pattern

Leopard print training tights

Plaid swimsuit with shaping effect

Training shorts with pockets
