Erling Braut Haaland attended Norway’s press conference.

Then everyone else wanted to be there too.

– I have never seen so many cameras, says Morten Thorsby.

It is not only in Norway that the Norwegian WC successes have attracted a lot of attention. The Norwegians have the eyes of the whole world on them – and above all, the spotlight is directed at an individual.

For Erling Braut Haaland, 25, the commotion is nothing new, but the question is whether it did not reach a new level on Thursday.

When the striker, who has scored seven goals in this year’s World Cup, for the first time so far during the championship was to be part of Norway’s press conference, a little chaos broke out.

“It was a shock”

The queues were endless and there was a fight among the journalists about the best seats.

– For me it was a shock. There were many microphones, many people, says Spanish journalist Roberto Quintana Díez to VG.

Haaland wasn’t the only Norwegian player in attendance – but he might as well have been.

– I noticed that when I came here, people moved away from him. But it’s going well for me, says Norway’s midfielder Kristian Thorstvedt, 27.

Appreciate the attention

Teammate Morten Thorsby, 30, has a long career behind him in several of Europe’s top leagues. Nevertheless, he too was taken.

– I have never seen so many cameras, says Thorsby.

Haaland himself seems to appreciate the attention.

– It’s fun. In general, it means that you and your country have done something right, I think that’s fantastic, says Haaland, according to Dagbladet.

Norway plays the quarter-final against England on Saturday at 11:00 p.m.
