– There is full activity here with helicopters and airplanes, she says.
A forest fire has broken out in Benahavis near Marbella. It has spread to residential areas and several residents have been forced to evacuate. Water bombers have been called in to try to bring the flames under control. In addition, over a hundred firefighters work at the site.
Pernilla Wahlgrenwho has a house in Benahavis, is on site in Spain and can see the smoke from the house.
– We only see an awful lot of smoke from here and that they have been going for the last few hours with helicopters and airplanes to try to put it out. That’s the only thing we know, she says.
“Has happened before”
However, she is not worried about being affected by the fire as it is still some distance away.
– This has happened before. It is so dry and hot that it spontaneously combusts in the forest.
But there is “full activity” in the extinguishing work.
– So we hope they solve it.
