Parts of the arena at Madison Square Garden in New York had been transformed into a forest for the event, with ferns and trees, a witness told People magazine.
It took the couple 20 minutes just to say their vows, read out from small gold books. The guests were given hand-embroidered handkerchiefs to wipe tears with.
After the ceremony sang Paul McCartney The Beatles song “I want to hold your hand”. Italian snacks and sushi were offered, and despite bars “all over” the crowd is reported to have been great.
Ed Sheeran, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez and Tom Hanks were some of the celebrities who added stardom to the wedding.
