Arsenal loan Charles Sagoe Jr, 21, continues to shine in Kalmar.
After a 20-minute thunderstorm, the Småland won 3-0 against Örgryte – with the Englishman as the key player.
– It was an important match for us to win today, says coach Toni Koskela in TV4’s broadcast.
Since he joined Kalmar in February, the Englishman has been an important piece in the team’s offensive.
In the newcomer meeting against Örgryte, it only took three minutes before he was once again behind a goal.
The Smålanders won the ball high up the court and shortly afterwards the 21-year-old was able to drive into the penalty area and then serve the ball to Carl Gustafsson, who scored the lead goal.
“We can’t behave like that”
Just two minutes after the half-time break, and a momentary stoppage of the match due to thunder, Sagoe Jr was able to play similarly to Abdussalam Magashy who extended the lead.
The Englishman is thus noted for one goal and seven assists in his eleven Allsvenskan appearances.
The match itself was pretty much in Kalmar’s possession from start to finish, with ÖIS pressing heavily in the middle of the second half, but when Rony Janson made it 3-0 in the 84th minute, things were beef.
– It is an Allsvenskan match that we are not there in the first half. That’s the one I’m damn critical of. We can’t behave like that, says ÖIS coach Andreas Holmberg in TV4’s broadcast.
From Kalmar’s side, the faces were all the happier – even if a bigger goal crop was desired.
– We scored three goals today but it could have been four or five. It was an important match for us to win today, says coach Toni Koskela.
The win means that the Smålanders once again prove strong at home – where they also took all of their 13 points. Since the opening loss against Västerås, they have not lost a single match at Guldfågeln Arena.
Next up is an away match against Hammarby, while ÖIS takes on Häcken in a Gothenburg derby.
